Why You Will Love This Journey

  • Practice Hatha Yoga and Pranayama Daily: Hatha Yoga and Pranayama sessions run every day of the journey, from 30 minute sunrise practices to a 90 minute session in Kathmandu, deepening steadily as the group moves from Kathmandu to Namobuddha, Bandipur and Pokhara.

  • Stay Two Nights at Namobuddha Resort: The group spends two nights at Namobuddha Resort, close to one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal, offering time to settle into yoga and meditation practice in a peaceful hilltop setting.

  • Practice Sunrise Yoga at Thanimaai Temple Hill: On Day 6, the group hikes up to Thanimaai Temple Hill near Bandipur for a sunrise Hatha Yoga session, with Mount Manaslu and the Annapurna range as the backdrop.

  • Walk Through Rural Ramkot Village: The gentle day hike to Ramkot Village, approximately 4 hours round trip, brings the group through traditional farming communities and everyday mountain life away from the main tourist trails.

  • Stay Two Nights at Raniban Retreat Above Phewa Lake: Raniban Retreat in Pokhara offers sweeping views of the Pokhara Valley and the Annapurna Himalayas, with dinners served overlooking the valley on both nights.

  • Experience Sound Healing in Kathmandu: A sound healing session on Day 2 in Kathmandu adds a dedicated layer of deep relaxation to the daily yoga and meditation schedule.

  • Receive an Ayurvedic Massage and Shirodhara Treatment: On Day 9 in Kathmandu, the group receives a full body Ayurvedic oil massage and a Shirodhara session, paired with an introduction to traditional Ayurvedic principles.

  • Visit Nepal's Major Spiritual and Cultural Landmarks: The itinerary includes guided visits to Boudhanath Stupa, Kopan Monastery, Swayambhunath Temple, Patan Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square, connecting the daily practice to Nepal's living spiritual heritage.

Journey Themes

This retreat is built around seven core themes, practiced daily across Kathmandu, Namobuddha, Bandipur and Pokhara.

  • Hatha Yoga: A gentle, physical style of yoga using postures called asanas to build strength, flexibility and body awareness. Sessions take place both at sunrise and in structured blocks throughout the day, ranging from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the day's schedule.

  • Pranayama: Structured breathing exercises used to calm the nervous system and steady the mind. Pranayama sessions run alongside the yoga practice each day, with a longer 60 minute session on Day 9 as the retreat deepens.

  • Silent Sitting: Seated meditation practiced without guided instruction, allowing participants to sit quietly with their own awareness. This is included at least once, and often twice, every single day of the journey.

  • Mindful Walking: Slow, deliberate walking practiced with full attention on each step and breath. This is woven into the itinerary through walks at Namobuddha, Bandipur Bazaar, Tundikhel and Lakeside Bazaar in Pokhara.

  • Sound Healing: A relaxation practice using resonant instruments such as singing bowls or gongs to support deep rest and stress release. The main sound healing session takes place on Day 2 in Kathmandu.

  • Ayurveda: Nepal's traditional system of holistic health and wellbeing, introduced through hands on treatment rather than lecture alone. This includes a full body Ayurvedic oil massage and a Shirodhara session with an introduction to Ayurvedic principles, both on Day 9.

  • Himalayan Nature and Culture: The retreat is set against the natural and cultural backdrop of Nepal, including views of Mount Manaslu and the Annapurna range, Buddhist and Hindu heritage sites such as Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath, and rural village life in Ramkot.

                      Seasonal and Weather Updates

                      • Autumn (September to November): Widely considered the best season for this journey, with clear skies, stable weather and comfortable daytime temperatures. Visibility for Himalayan views from Thanimaai Temple Hill, Tundikhel and Raniban Retreat is generally excellent during this period.

                      • Winter (December to February): Cool and dry, with clear mornings that are well suited to sunrise yoga and hikes, though temperatures can feel cold in the early morning and evening, particularly in Bandipur and Namobuddha. Daytime skies are often clear.

                      • Spring (March to May): Another favorable season, with milder temperatures and rhododendron forests in bloom in the hills around Bandipur and Namobuddha. Morning haze can sometimes reduce mountain visibility later in the season.

                      • Summer and Monsoon (June to August): The monsoon season brings regular rainfall, higher humidity and lush green landscapes across the Kathmandu Valley, Bandipur and Pokhara. Mountain views are less reliable during this period, and outdoor sessions may occasionally need to be adjusted for rain.

                      Health and Safety

                      • General Wellbeing: This is a gentle to moderate paced journey. Please inform your yoga teacher or tour leader of any health conditions or physical limitations before beginning the practice sessions.

                      • Healthcare Facilities: Full hospital facilities are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara, with basic facilities in Bandipur and Namobuddha. Your tour leader can assist with local arrangements if required.

                      • Pacing: Each day balances yoga and meditation sessions with sightseeing or walking, allowing the group to move through the journey at a comfortable and unhurried pace.

                      • Hydration: Drink sufficient fluids throughout the journey, particularly during the sunrise hikes on Day 6 and the mindful walks in Bandipur.
