Why You Will Love This Trip
The Tiger's Nest Hike: Paro Taktsang, known as the Tiger's Nest, clings to a cliff about 900 m above Paro Valley, at a height of around 3,120 m. It is the image most people associate with Bhutan, and seeing it in person is something else entirely. The hike up and back takes about 4 to 6 hours, with a rest at the halfway cafeteria and time to explore the monastery once you arrive.
Punakha Dzong by the River: Punakha Dzong is widely considered Bhutan's most beautiful dzong, set right where the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers meet. It served as the country's capital until 1955 and is still the winter home of Bhutan's central monastic body today.
The Dochula Pass: On your drive between Paro or Thimphu and Punakha, the road climbs to the Dochula Pass, sitting at about 3,100 m and marked by 108 memorial chortens known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens. On a clear day, the Himalayan views here are worth every minute of the stop.
A Full Day in Thimphu: Thimphu, Bhutan's capital and largest city, gives you a different side of the country. You'll visit landmarks like the Buddha Dordenma statue, Tashichho Dzong and the National Memorial Chorten, all set against the everyday rhythm of city life, a real change of pace from the quieter valleys of Paro and Punakha.
Small Group Travel: As a Group Join Tour, you travel with a small group of fellow travelers, sharing the same guide, vehicle and schedule. It keeps the trip social without losing that well organized, personally guided feel.
Compact Yet Complete: In just six days, this trip takes you through Paro, Punakha and Thimphu, the three valleys most travelers want to see on their first visit to Bhutan, a great fit if your time is limited.
