Itinerary

Your trip starts the moment you land in Kathmandu. Rather than fighting through the city's traffic to a downtown hotel, we will drive you straight to Dhulikhel, about an hour east, up on a ridge where the air is cooler and the pace slower. It is a gentle way to begin, and it sets the tone for the rest of the trip: comfortable, unhurried, and rooted in place.

Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort

Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort sits on a hillside just outside the old town of Dhulikhel, built in traditional Newari style, with carved wood, brick courtyards, and a real sense of calm the moment you walk in. This is where you will settle into your heritage suite, unwind after the flight, and slow down for the first time. You can step out onto your balcony and, on a clear day, you can simply catch the Langtang range in the distance. Take a walk through the gardens, sink into a quiet courtyard with a cup of tea, or just sit back and let the jet lag melt away. There is nothing to rush here.

In the evening, the resort offers a private, multi-course fine-dining experience, giving you your first proper taste of Nepali and Newari flavors before the trip really gets going.

  • Accommodation: Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort (Heritage Suite)
  • Meals Included: Dinner
  • ActivitiesAirport transfer; check-in at Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort; private multi-course dinner
  • Trip Hours~3 hrs
  • Max Altitude1,400 m – 1,550 m

This is the day most people remember long after the trip ends. We will be starting early with a private mountain flight that takes you directly over the Khumbu Glacier and past Everest itself, no trekking boots required. From there, things get even better: you'll land at the Everest View Hotel for breakfast with a direct line of sight to the world's highest peaks, then take a helicopter over Everest Base Camp before heading back to Kathmandu. The afternoon slows down considerably, with visits to two towns that most visitors never make it to.

Everest Mountain Flight & Everest View Hotel

The mountain flight follows the Himalayan range east from Kathmandu, giving you window views of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu on a clear morning. You'll land at Syangboche, near Namche Bazaar, where the Everest View Hotel sits at just over 3,800 meters, one of the highest-altitude hotels anywhere in the world. Breakfast here comes with a panoramic terrace facing the peaks; it's less about the food and more about sitting still with that view in front of you for an hour. Honestly, it's the kind of morning that's hard to describe well in an itinerary; you will just have to see it.

Everest Base Camp Helicopter Pass

From Syangboche, a helicopter takes you further into the Khumbu region for a pass over Everest Base Camp. This isn't a landing-and-walking-around stop; it's a scenic flyover that lets you see the base camp, the Khumbu Icefall, and the surrounding peaks from the air before the helicopter loops back toward Kathmandu.

Panauti

Panauti is a medieval Newari town built at the confluence of two rivers, and it's kept much of its original character, with narrow brick lanes, old temples, and a general lack of tourist infrastructure that, frankly, is part of the appeal. The Indreshwar Mahadev Temple here is one of the oldest surviving pagoda-style temples in Nepal, and the town itself gives you a sense of what Kathmandu's old squares might have looked like before they became major attractions.

Namobuddha Monastery

Namobuddha is one of Nepal's important Buddhist pilgrimage sites, tied to a story about a prince who offered his own body to a starving tigress and her cubs. The Jarung Kashor stupa marks the spot where this is said to have happened. The monastery sits on a hilltop with a wide view over the surrounding hills, and it's an active site, not a museum piece; you will likely hear monks chanting or see pilgrims circling the stupa as you walk through.

  • Accommodation: Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort
  • Meals Included: Breakfast/Dinner
  • ActivitiesEverest mountain flight; champagne breakfast at Everest View Hotel; helicopter pass over Everest Base Camp; Panauti town; Namobuddha Monastery
  • Trip Hours~9 hrs
  • Max Altitude1,550 m – 5,364 m

Day three eases off after two fairly full days. We will start with yoga in a small patch of forest right on the resort grounds, followed by a spa treatment genuinely useful if the early starts have caught up with you. After breakfast, you will fly to Pokhara in the early afternoon, and by evening, you'll be settling into Tiger Mountain Lodge with a guided walk through a nearby village.

Morning Yoga & Spa

The yoga session takes place among trees on the resort property, led by an instructor who keeps things simple rather than performative. It's followed by a spa treatment at the resort, a nice way to close out your time in Dhulikhel before the trip shifts gears toward Pokhara and the Annapurna foothills.

Flight to Pokhara

The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes about 25 minutes and, weather permitting, gives you good views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges from the air. Pokhara itself sits beside Phewa Lake with the Annapurna range rising almost directly behind it, a striking contrast to Kathmandu's dense valley setting.

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge & Village Walk

Tiger Mountain Lodge sits on a ridge above the Pokhara valley, built with sustainability in mind and positioned to make the most of its Annapurna and Fishtail views. Once you have checked in, a guide will take you on a walk through a nearby Gurung village, a chance to see rural hill life in this part of Nepal up close, away from the lakeside tourist strip.

  • Accommodation: Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge
  • Meals Included: Breakfast/ Dinner
  • ActivitiesMorning yoga and spa; flight to Pokhara; guided village walk near Tiger Mountain Lodge
  • Trip Hours~5 hrs
  • Max Altitude827 m – 1,550 m

This day belongs to the mountains. We will get you up early for sunrise over the Annapurna range and Machapuchare, then spend the rest of the day at a slower pace, a day hike, some birdwatching, and time to just sit with the view. There's nowhere you need to be, which is really the point.

Annapurna & Machapuchare Sunrise

Watching the sunrise hit the Annapurna range from the lodge terrace is one of those experiences that photographs never quite capture. Machapuchare, known locally as Fishtail for its twin-pronged summit, sits closest to Pokhara and has never been officially climbed, which gives it a certain mystique among the surrounding 7,000 and 8,000-meter peaks. A private breakfast is served right there on the terrace as the light changes over the ridgeline.

Day Hike & Birdwatching

The trails around Tiger Mountain Lodge run through community forest and terraced farmland, and they're used as much by local guides for birdwatching as by hotel guests out for a walk. Depending on the season, you may spot several species of sunbird and barbet, along with a good number of butterflies, lower down where the forest opens onto farmland. It is an easy, unhurried hike, nothing technical, just good walking with plenty to look at.

  • ActivitiesSunrise viewing of Annapurna and Machapuchare; day hike; birdwatching and butterfly spotting
  • Trip Hours~6 hrs
  • Max Altitude827 m – 1,000 m

From mountains to jungle, today you will leave Pokhara behind and head south to Chitwan, a completely different landscape and climate. By afternoon, you'll be out on a private jeep safari, tracking rhinos and, if things go well, a tiger.

Drive to Chitwan & Barahi Jungle Lodge

The drive from Pokhara to Meghauli in Chitwan takes you down out of the hills and into Nepal's Terai lowlands, flat, humid, and thick with sal forest, a sharp contrast to the previous three days. Barahi Jungle Lodge sits on the edge of Chitwan National Park, and your Suite Villa here comes with a private outdoor space looking out over the surrounding jungle.

Chitwan National Park Safari

Chitwan was Nepal's first national park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, largely because of what it's done for rhino and tiger conservation in this part of Asia. The afternoon safari takes place in a customized 4x4 jeep with an experienced guide, moving through grassland and forest tracks where one-horned rhinos are a fairly regular sighting. Bengal tigers are shyer, understandably, so a sighting isn't guaranteed, but the guides know the park well, and even without a tiger, the birdlife and general sense of being deep in the jungle make the drive worthwhile.

  • Accommodation: Barahi Jungle Lodge (Suite Villa)
  • Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • ActivitiesDrive to Chitwan; check in at Barahi Jungle Lodge; private jeep safari in Chitwan National Park
  • Trip Hours~7 hrs
  • Max Altitude150 m – 827 m

Your last morning in Chitwan will be a bit quiet one: a canoe ride at dawn, then lunch before flying back to Kathmandu for a very different kind of evening: a nine-course Nepali dinner at one of the city's best-known restaurants.

Canoe Ride on the Rapti River

Early morning is the best time to be out on the Rapti River, when the light is soft, and the birdlife is most active. Dugout canoes move quietly along the water, and it's common to see kingfishers, storks, and, if you are patient, the occasional gharial crocodile sunning on the riverbank. It's a calm, low-key way to close out your time in Chitwan.

Dwarika's Hotel, Kathmandu

Dwarika's in Kathmandu is where the whole heritage-hotel concept behind this trip really started. The hotel was built around salvaged wood carvings rescued from demolished buildings across the Kathmandu Valley, some of them centuries old, and it's now considered one of the city's landmark properties. Checking in here after the jungle feels like a proper return to the city, quieter and more textured than a standard hotel stay.

Krishnarpan Restaurant

Krishnarpan, the hotel's signature restaurant, serves a traditional nine-course Nepali meal in a dining room styled after a Newari home, with guests seated on low cushions in the customary way. Each course is small and specific, and the format gives you a real cross-section of Nepali cuisine in one sitting, not the abbreviated version you'd get at a typical restaurant.

  • Accommodation: Dwarika's Hotel, Kathmandu
  • Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • ActivitiesDawn canoe ride on the Rapti River; flight to Kathmandu; nine-course dinner at Krishnarpan
  • Trip Hours~6 hrs
  • Max Altitude150 m – 1,400 m

Your last full day is dedicated to Kathmandu itself. It can be a bit of a busy day by design, but you will get a lot to see, and this is really your one chance to take in the valley's biggest cultural sites properly. The following are the places you will visit today

Patan Durbar Square & Museum

Patan Durbar Square sits across the Bagmati River from central Kathmandu and is generally considered the best-preserved of the valley's three royal squares. It's dense with temples, courtyards, and some of the finest Newari wood and stone carving anywhere in Nepal. The museum inside the old royal palace does a good job explaining the valley's Malla-era history and religious art, which makes it worth the hour or so it takes to go through properly.

Kathmandu Old Town

Kathmandu's old town, the maze of streets around the original Durbar Square, is where the city's daily life and its history overlap most visibly. Between the temple courtyards and the narrow market lanes, you get a real sense of how the valley's Newari culture still functions day to day, not just as something preserved for visitors.

Boudhanath Stupa

Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world and the center of Nepal's Tibetan Buddhist community, particularly since the wave of Tibetan refugees who settled around it after 1959. Walking the circuit around its base always clockwise puts you among monks, pilgrims, and locals doing the same, with the stupa's painted eyes watching over the whole scene from above.

Pashupatinath Temple

Pashupatinath is one of the most important Hindu temple complexes in the world dedicated to Shiva, and it sits on the banks of the Bagmati River. Non-Hindus can't enter the main temple itself, but the surrounding complex, including the cremation ghats along the river, gives you an unfiltered look at how central this site is to Hindu ritual life in Nepal. It's not always an easy place to visit emotionally, but I would argue it is one of the most honest cultural experiences the valley has to offer.

  • Accommodation: Dwarika's Hotel, Kathmandu

  • ActivitiesPatan Durbar Square and Museum; Kathmandu Old Town; Boudhanath Stupa; Pashupatinath Temple
  • Trip Hours~8 hrs

There is no rush on your last morning. You can simply take your time over breakfast, maybe one last cup of coffee, looking out over the courtyard one more time before we take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. It's been a full eight days: mountains, jungle, old temples, and some really good food along the way. You will be heading home happy, with lots of memories to look back on.

Trip Information

Accommodation

Over the eight days, you'll stay in four properties that each bring something different to the trip. In Dhulikhel, home is Dwarika's Dhulikhel Resort, a 5-star heritage property built in true Newari style, with carved wood, quiet courtyards, and views out over the hills. From there, you'll move to Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, a boutique eco-luxury lodge set high on a ridge with the Annapurna range right in front of you, the kind of place where you'll want to just sit on the terrace with a coffee and take it all in. Down in the jungle, Barahi Jungle Lodge, another 5-star property, puts you up in a private Suite Villa on the edge of Chitwan National Park, with your own outdoor space looking straight into the forest. And to close out the trip, you're back in Kathmandu at Dwarika's flagship hotel, also 5-star, and a true landmark property, built around centuries-old wood carvings rescued from the valley's old buildings. Each stay is comfortable and well looked after, but more than that, each one feels like it belongs exactly where it is.

  • Private helicopter over Everest Base Camp is a scenic flyover that gets you right up to the base camp and the Khumbu Icefall, then loops back to Kathmandu.

  • Private 4x4 jeep for the Chitwan National Park safari built for jungle tracks, with a guide who knows exactly where the rhinos tend to hang out.

As you will not spend long periods at high altitude, the risk of altitude sickness is generally low. Our experienced guides will monitor your well-being throughout the journey to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

  • Drinking Water: We recommend drinking only bottled or filtered water throughout the tour, and avoiding tap water, ice, or unpackaged drinks, particularly outside Kathmandu and Pokhara. Your guide can suggest reliable places to buy sealed bottled water or refill a reusable bottle from a safe, filtered source along the route, which also helps cut down on plastic waste over the course of the trip.

  • Emergency Assistance: Emergency medical services are available throughout the destinations included in this itinerary. If any unexpected situation arises, our team will assist with transportation, hospital arrangements, and any necessary support.

  • Healthcare Facilities: Kathmandu has the best healthcare facilities on this route, including hospitals experienced in treating international travelers. Pokhara also has good hospital and clinic facilities, with a solid standard of care for the most common travel-related issues. Jomsom, being more remote, has only a basic health post, so anyone with pre-existing medical conditions should carry adequate personal medication and inform their guide in advance.

  • Safety Tips: This is a pilgrimage and cultural sightseeing tour, moving between busy temple complexes, mountain roads, and high-altitude areas. We recommend keeping valuables secure, following your guide's advice during temple visits and mountain drives, and respecting local customs and religious etiquette at each site.

Know Before You Book

  • Visa: Most travelers can obtain a Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your travel date. We recommend checking the latest visa requirements for your nationality before your trip.

Trip Preparations
  • 1. What makes a Nepal tour a luxury tour?

A luxury Nepal tour usually means private transport instead of shared buses, stays at heritage or 5-star properties instead of budget hotels, skip-the-line experiences like mountain flights instead of long treks, and a private guide throughout. It focuses on comfort and convenience while still covering Nepal's culture and nature.

  •  Yes, you do not need to trek to see Everest. A mountain flight or helicopter tour from Kathmandu gets you close aerial views of Everest, the Khumbu Glacier, and nearby peaks in just a few hours. Many travelers choose this option due to limited time, age, or fitness concerns.

  • Most travelers need around 7 to 10 days to properly cover Nepal's main highlights, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan. This gives enough time for cultural sites, mountain views, and a wildlife safari without rushing. Shorter trips are possible but tend to skip either the mountains or the jungle.

  • Kathmandu is Nepal's cultural capital, full of temples and old squares. Pokhara is a calm lakeside city with direct Annapurna mountain views, popular for relaxing and light adventure. Chitwan is a lowland jungle region known for wildlife safaris, rhinos, and river activities. Most Nepal trips combine all three.

  • Yes, Nepal has a growing number of high-end hotels and eco lodges outside the capital.
