Nepal Tour: 10 Days | Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara & Chitwan Wildlife map

Overview

This 10-day tour takes you through Nepal's three royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley, the lake town of Pokhara, and the wildlife-rich lowlands of Chitwan National Park, covering roughly 550 km by road plus one short domestic flight.

Tour Info

Duration

10 days / 9 nights

Destinations

Kathmandu Old Town → Pokhara/Sarangkot → Chitwan → Kathmandu Valley ridge

Total road distance

Roughly 550 km (340 mi) driven, plus one 25-minute domestic flight

Physical demand

Low-to-moderate. No trekking. Two half-day walks (Chandragiri) the rest is sightseeing on foot in old cities and vehicle transfers

Best months

October–November and March–April (clear skies, stable roads). Late June–August is monsoon: road disturbance risk on hill roads, possible poor mountain visibility

Group size assumption

Best suited for 2–8 people in a private vehicle

Altitude range

415 m (Chitwan) to 2,600 m (Chandragiri)  no acclimatization concerns, but Chandragiri, and Sarangkot mornings are cooler.

This trip is for you to experience the range of culture, wildlife, and mountain views in one loop within 10 days. Whether this is your first time to Nepal or you are already in love with the country and returning back, this trip moves at a pace that actually lets you take in each city instead of ticking it off, with a buffer day on arrival for jet lag. A full day in Chitwan built around wildlife rather than a drive-through, and you will enjoy enough mountain time from Sarangkot and Chandragiri.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrive & transfer to the hotel in Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 2: Breakfast & full-day Kathmandu sightseeing (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square). Same hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 3: Breakfast & short flight to Pokhara (25–30 min), then drive up to Sarangkot (30–45 min). Overnight at Sarangkot.

  • Day 4: Optional pre-dawn Sarangkot sunrise viewpoint, then descend to Pokhara for Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave & the International Mountain Museum. Overnight in Pokhara.

  • Day 5: Drive to Chitwan — 145 km, 5–6 hours. Overnight in Sauraha/Chitwan buffer zone.

  • Day 6: Full day of jungle activities — jeep safari, village walk. Same hotel in Chitwan.

  • Day 7: Full day of Jungle Activities in Chitwan - Jungle Trek, Canoe Ride.

  • Day 8: Drive back toward the Kathmandu Valley — 165 km, 5–6 hours — then cable car up to Chandragiri Hills (2,551 m). Overnight near Chandragiri/Kathmandu.

  • Day 9: Enjoy the sunrise. Back into the valley with a stop in Patan (Lalitpur). Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 10: Breakfast, departure transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Fly back home.

Why You Will Love This Trip

  1. Three Royal Cities, one valley: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan each have their own architectural identity, and we give all three their own dedicated time instead of rushing through just one or two.

  2. Three sunrise viewpoints, not one: You'll get Sarangkot (Annapurna and Machhapuchare) and Chandragiri, so the focus stays on complete experiences of culture, Himalayas, and jungle safari

  3. A cable car, not just a hike: The Chandragiri Hills cable car climbs from roughly 1,200 m to 2,600 m in around 10 to 12 minutes, giving you a valley and Himalaya panorama without demanding a trek.

  4. Real jungle time, not a drive-through: You get a full dedicated day in Chitwan, jeep safari, canoe float, and a village walk, built around wildlife rather than squeezed between transfers.

  5. Sacred and confronting, side by side: Pashupatinath's cremation ghats offer one of the most honest, unfiltered cultural experiences in Nepal, alongside the more contemplative Boudhanath Stupa.

  6. A pace that lets you experience, not just pass through: With a buffer day on arrival and no trekking fitness required, this trip suits you if you want cultural depth and mountain views alongside some of the country's best comfort stays.

Accommodation & Meals Overview

Throughout the trip, you'll stay in comfortable hotels with daily breakfast included. Meal inclusions vary by destination, so it's worth confirming current package details since this is the single biggest source of "surprise" costs on Nepal itineraries.

You'll spend a full day covering the valley's core sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath (the "Monkey Temple," reached by a 365 step climb), Pashupatinath (Nepal's most important Hindu cremation site on the Bagmati River), and Boudhanath Stupa. Expect 6 to 7 hours of walking across uneven stone courtyards and temple steps, the most physically active day of the trip. Dress modestly, shoulders and knees covered, and slip on footwear will save you time with the frequent shoe removal.

                      • Travel Insurance: Travel insurance covering medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and adventure activities is essential for this trip. We're happy to recommend providers if needed.

                      • Currency & Payment: We accept payments in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, and other major currencies. For international bookings, we recommend paying in US Dollars.

                      Accommodations, Meals & Transportation
