Everest region is synonymous to trekking along with Annapurna region. Everest region is the main habitat of Sherpa tribe. The Everest region is becoming more popular since first victory of Mt. Everest by Tenzin Sherpa and Edmund Hillary in 1953. This is equally known as Khumbu region. Khumbu is also the land of Yeti. The mighty Mt. Everest, Sherpa people and their culture are what lure people in the region. The Khumbu region is conserved as Sagarmatha Nation Park. The most enchanting places are Namche Bazar, the Mt. Everest itself, Kalapatthar among others. The Everest region inhabits to the Himalayan tar, muskdeer, pikka, mouse hare and rare birds like snow crow, snow pigeon and pheasant among others. The most used way to get to Khumbu is fly to Lukla from Kathmandu. Kathmandu to Lukla is a 25 minute flight and costs USD 116 per person one way. The other ways to get Khumbu are bus or private vehicle to Jiri, fly to Phaplu.
Trekking to the area provides the opportunity for close views of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan ranges above 8 thousand meters, Sherpa culture, and the flora and fauna.
